Changes show as a preview first

Tap any value to change it. Every axis is optional.

Nine axes, all optional. Products read only axes they understand and you allow. Unset axes use defaults.

Density. Comfortable, balanced or compact. How much fits on screen, on every surface.

Navigation. Task-first, project-first or recent-first. What you see first when you arrive.

Layout. List, board or table, wherever the data can honestly be shown that way.

Words. Plain, standard or expert labels. The app’s own meaning is always kept, never replaced.

Interaction. Keyboard-first, pointer-first or mixed, with a shortcut scheme that stays the same everywhere.

Guidance. Inline hints, a walkthrough, or as little help as possible, for onboarding and empty states.

Visual. Contrast, text size from 0.75 to 2 times, and reduced motion, applied to every surface.

Locale. Language, time zone, date format and week start, so “today” always means your today.

Change policy. Preview changes first, apply presets only by hand, or let rules you approved apply.

The format

Readable by you, and by any product. One small JSON file in a versioned, open format.

The format, ownux-dna/1, was frozen on 23 October 2026. Any later change arrives as a new version with a defined migration, so the profile you set today keeps working.

  • Every axis is optional. Unset axes use the product’s defaults.
  • Readers keep every valid value and report what they ignored.
  • The export format is documented and open.

Format and version

ownux-dna/1

Every profile names its format version. A new version comes with a defined migration.

Explicit first

You set it. Nothing is guessed behind your back.

Interface DNA starts with your own choices. In a later version, Satin may offer suggestions. Each waits for your answer, says why, and can be edited, declined or deleted.

  • Your explicit settings always win.
  • “Why was this suggested?” is always one click away.
  • In version 1 the suggestions list is always empty.

Yours to keep

Local first. Sync only if you switch it on.

If you turn on sync, a copy goes to Satin cloud: the profile only, never your work. You can export or delete it whenever you like.

  • Stored on your device by default.
  • Sync is opt-in, and planned for a later phase.
  • Export as readable JSON, for any product that supports OwnUX.
  • Delete it from this device and, if synced, Satin cloud.

Questions, answered plainly.

In developmentInterface DNA setup, local storage, export and import are part of the first release of Satin for People.

PlannedDNA sync and DNA Share, which lets a product read the axes you grant it, come in a later phase.

It’s a profile of your preferences, not of you. It holds the nine choices above and when you last changed them. No usage history, no inferred traits, no classification.

Set your OwnUX once. Early access to Satin opens soon.
