Familiar mode. The page you know, a little easier to use.
Planned for a later phase · Not part of the first beta

Sprint 14 board
SearchIllustrative preview of a planned feature. Content and order never change.
Four kinds of change. Nothing more. Presentation only: never what a page says, does or where its controls sit.
Density. More room between rows when cramped, or less to see everything at a glance.
Contrast. Stronger text, borders and headings, so faint grey labels stop disappearing into the background.
Label hints. A plain-words hint beside the app’s label, which stays as it is, meaning included.
Keyboard shortcuts. Shortcut hints and a clear focus ring, so you always know where the keyboard is.
PlannedFamiliar mode is planned for a later phase. Nothing on this page is available yet; the demos are illustrative.
No account to connect
It needs only your permission for the site.
You allow Satin on the site, and it adjusts how the page is presented. It still works when a company’s Jira blocks apps people install themselves.
- Needs access to the one site you choose
- No Jira sign-in, and no calls to Jira’s API
- Turn it off and the page is exactly as shipped

Fails safe
If the page changes, Satin steps aside.
Familiar mode applies only changes it knows are safe, on pages it recognises. When a check stops matching, it withdraws every change, restores the original and tells you once.
- Design rule, in development: never hides security, permission or billing notices
- No added typing delay above 50 ms (design target)
- A signed file can switch it off for everyone

SearchIllustrative. Familiar mode is planned for a later phase.
Why it comes later. We’d rather ship one mode properly than two modes in a hurry.
- 1
Personal mode first
Being built now. It comes first because it delivers the most.
- 2
Checking the rules first
It restyles another company’s page, so we’re confirming each provider’s terms allow it.
- 3
Then a later phase
Familiar mode is planned alongside Linear support and opt-in Interface DNA sync across your devices.

Questions about Familiar mode.
It’s planned for a later phase, after Personal mode on Jira Cloud. We won’t promise dates before we’re confident in them.
